"She was in a pit that had been dug in the floor of the shed, and wood had been placed over the top of the pit, and heavy objects placed on top the wood to prevent her escape", Blanchester Police Chief Scott Reinbolt told WLWT.
Earlier this month, Dunn's neighbors called the police and reported that Dunn was in his backyard with a pistol. The woman was discovered on April 26 after a person reported hearing cries coming from a shed located at 113 Central Avenue.
Blanchester is about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northeast of Cincinnati.
Blanchester police have a long history with Dunn, whose mental health was recently evaluated at Clermont Mercy after several recent incidents, according to Reinbolt in an April 6 story in the News Journal.
The Blanchester, Ohio man accused of kidnapping and holding his neighbor captive in a pit, was given a $1-million bond Thursday morning.

Officers in Blanchester, Cincinnati, found the woman trapped inside a dark pit in her neighbour's back garden hours after she was reported missing on Wednesday. At the time, he was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, but was out in 24 hours, once again calling police, WLWT said. The woman was treated at a hospital and released. Police obtained a search warrant and found Elliott in a three-by-two foot hole. Reinbolt told reporters that Elliot did not "appear to have any obvious signs of physical trauma". A complete shock. He was a good guy.It's just really scary knowing that I've known somebody for five years and wouldn't see something like that in somebody, ' she said. At the time Elliott declined to participate in any prosecution of Dunn in that case.
He faces previous charges of disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. Whenever the police responded to his calls, they did not find any evidence of an attempted break-in. An officer responded and found no one there but Dunn.
