Rollins' suspension, backdated to December 19, 2016, will not affect her Olympic gold medal, which led a historic USA sweep of the event in Rio de Janeiro.
USADA confirmed that the Olympic champion did not fail any tests, but "the combination of three Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period constitutes a rule violation".
The sprinter was a member of the USADA registered testing pool, which consists of a select group of athletes who are subject to certain whereabouts requirements in order to be located for out-of-competition testing.
Rollins underwent eight out-of-competition tests previous year and "at least" 16 tests overall, according to her attorneys, and never tested positive.
She was also banned for a year but returned in 2007 to win the 400m at the IAAF World Championships in Osaka only 24 days after her suspension ended.
As a result of this drugs ban, Rollins, 25 wil miss the World Championships in London in August. She failed to update here whereabouts when going to The White House to meet President Barack Obama following her Olympic triumph.

Another Briton, Sir Mo Farah, faced the threat of a suspension when he missed two out-of-competition tests in a year before London 2012, where he won gold medals in the 5,000m and 10,000m.
Her management agency Stellar Athletics pointed out that Rollins had received the minimal suspension possible after a hearing before the American Arbitration Association (AAA).
The USADA agreed that Rollins is not suspected of doping, and the panel wrote that "she shows no evidence of avoiding testing, masking drug use, or using drugs".
