Gunfire erupted in a crowded OH nightclub early Sunday after a personal dispute boiled over, killing one person and wounding at least 15 as party-goers scattered into the night, authorities said.
The city's police are continuing to investigate the shooting early Sunday morning at the Cameo Nightclub and have yet to make an arrest, Police Chief Eliot Isaac told city officials during a previously scheduled meeting on law and public safety. He said around 200 people were inside of the club at the time of the shooting, and urged any witnesses to come forward.
There doesn't appear to be any video footage of the deadly shooting, Isaac said.
The worst mass shooting in recent Cincinnati history was on August 21, 2015, when two people were killed and five injured in a shooting at the Elks club in Madisonville.
No suspects were in custody by late afternoon in the shooting at the Cameo club, which has a history of gun violence, and police say there is no indication of any terrorism link.
Isaac said he was aware of reports of a security bypass line, but police hadn't confirmed that.
Isaac said he feels confident police will find those responsible. Police believe multiple shooters were involved, and they estimate more than 20 shots were fired.
Isaac identifies the dead man as 27-year-old O'Bryan Spikes, but provided no other details. Two of the 16 injured were in critical condition Monday. Two people remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The gunfight broke out after a dispute among several patrons escalated into a shootout, authorities said.

The film, from Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Bros. studio, is based on a 1970s TV series about California Highway Patrol officers. Disney's live-action remake of its 1991 animation easily topped the charts with $88.3m, according to studio estimates Sunday.
"Saddened to learn about last night's shooting in Cincinnati", Ohio Gov. John Kasich tweeted.
The club, a large single-story structure, is a 11km drive from downtown Cincinnati near the southeast corner of the city, the heart of the second largest metropolitan area in OH with more than 2 million residents. Crime witnesses afraid to testify for fear of retribution have been a problem in some past Cincinnati cases. Employees also used handheld metal detectors to check patrons for firearms before they could enter the club.
Cameo hires off-duty police officers for extra security.
Cameo Night Club describes itself on its Facebook page as providing entertainment and excitement to the Tri-State. He said Cameo had planned to move out in May because of the landlord's planned sale of the property but will turn over the keys Friday instead. The club had earlier surrendered its liquor license.
A shooting took place inside the club on New Year's Day 2015 and that September another one took place in the parking lot. Mayor John Cranley said the city has gotten outpouring of support from elected officials, including fellow mayors in other cities. When I grew up, you could go out dancing and have a nice time and it's over.
Isaac told council members two groups of people were arguing much of Saturday and into Sunday, the fight escalating into a shooting inside the club.
Shootings at USA bars and nightclubs have rarely involved more than a handful people. Seven others were treated there for their injuries.
There have been at least nine mass shootings (defined as having at least four victims) in Cincinnati since 2013.
