Minnesota Twins' Jorge Polanco throws out Cleveland Indians' Jose Ramirez at first base during the fourth inning of a baseball game, Friday, May 12, 2017, in Cleveland. After Carlos Santana drew a walk, Francisco Lindor struck out for the second out. Berrios threw a wild pitch to the next batter and Cleveland got their first run of the series after being shut out the night before.
John Alfes has covered the Indians for IBI since August of 2016.
Three days later, the Indians find themselves back to the drawing board after scoring two runs in the first pair of games to start their homestand.
So would Berrios begin to melt as the pressure mounted? Lindor struck out, but Brantley drew a walk, loading the bases with two outs. Since he spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons as a member of the Texas Rangers rotation at points, he has made one start each of the last two years with the Los Angeles Dodgers and now, Twins.
"You've got to be excited about the performance we received from him", Twins manager Paul Molitor said. One, about his potential and two, the difficulty he's had making the transition up here.
Jason Kipnis, in two separate at-bats, ripped a ball to right field only to have it slice just foul.
"Couldn't help but notice just the fact that the strikes he was throwing, working ahead, ratio was good the whole game, strikes to balls". A lot of that's on me. He had a good fastball today.
The Indians scored their only run in the third.

Very bad that Eric Bailly will miss the Europa League final, given that he's by far Manchester United's best defender. If we win the Europa League I'm more than happy. "Some kept their control in a better way than others", said Mourinho.
A Royals 3, Orioles 2: Eric Hosmer delivered another key hit, doubling home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and giving Kansas City a win over visiting Baltimore. Santana, the Twins' top starter, is now 6-1 with a 1.50 ERA. Phil Hughes is 4-1 but has a 4.74 ERA and has been doing it with smoke and mirrors at times.
Minnesota got another great start on Saturday. Berrios is 3-0 this season in the minor leagues with a 1.13 ERA.
Berrios' success at Rochester wasn't the important thing to the Twins. Last year, they were #6 with 4.72 runs per game. The Twins were well aware of the fact that Berrios' stuff is dominant at Triple-A. Bauer hasn't made it very far and is putting too many runners on base to trust him. During a postgame interview on Fox Sports North, Berrios talked about the confidence he felt Saturday.
The Atlanta Braves had an 8-4 win over the Miami Marlins, the San Diego Padres overcame the Chicago White Sox 6-3 and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 7-4.
The eight-pitch inning came in the sixth when a squirrel got on the field and ran around long enough to cause a four-minute delay before it was finally chased into the stands.
The squirrel raced in from right field and reached the area around the pitcher's mound, forcing the umpires to halt play.
"I've never been a big fan of changing your lineup much, because I think that sends the wrong message", he said.
