It was a brutal morning for Montana law enforcement after a father and son killed a Broadwater County Sheriff's deputy and ended up in a firefight with Missoula County deputies and the Montana Highway Patrol.
Moore was a husband and father of three children.
"The men and women of the Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Department extend our sincerest condolences to Sheriff Meehan, the Broadwater County Sheriff's Department, and the family of the fallen deputy".
They are Marshall Barrus, 38, of Gallatin County and Lloyd Barrus, 62, whose last known address was in Bakersfield California. His name has not been released.
The deputy had been pursuing a vehicle when dispatchers lost contact with him at about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Donnie Drose confirmed that Moore worked with the sheriff's office between 2007 and 2011. His condition has not been released but Missoula County officials said he is in custody.
Missoula County has taken 61-year-old Lloyd Barrus, a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Broadwater County Deputy in Montana.

According to Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin, Gallatin County and Montana Highway Patrol officers responded and found the 38-year-old dead by the side of the road.
The suspect's vehicle was spotted about 80 miles (129 kilometers) away. The driver of the SUV has been arrested and the passenger was shot by law enforcement and taken to the hospital.
Butte-Silver Bow County Sheriff Ed Lester says the suspects fired shots at officers who pursued the vehicle across parts of five counties. Before sunrise, the chase had ended with the vehicle driving on its rims, a suspect shot and hospitalized and his father under arrest, officials said.
The incident began when a Broadwater County Sheriff's deputy pulled a vehicle over near Three Forks in what's described as a "routine stop" at approximately 3 a.m. Officers deployed spike strips, but the vehicle continued another 30 miles (48 kilometers) on Interstate 90.
Missoula County authorities report the passenger exited the vehicle and began shooting at multiple officers, according to KPAX.
Officers from numerous agencies joined a procession at mid-day Tuesday to transfer Moore's body from Three Forks to Billings for an autopsy. "During this week of remembrance, please do me a favor and smile and wave when you see a peace officer - we could use it!"
