Panarin, 25, who has posted back-to-back 30-goal seasons, was acquired by Chicago in April 2015.

Chicago also traded defenceman Niklas Hjalmarsson to the Arizona Coyotes for defencemen Connor Murphy and Laurent Dauphin.

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded forward Artemi Panarin along with forward Tyler Motte and a 2017 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for forward Brandon Saad, goaltender Anton Forsberg and a 2018 fifth-round draft pick. The Blackhawks are clearly trying to address the unexpected loss of Marian Hossa with this deal, as Saad's larger frame enables him to play a more complete two-way game, but Panarin will continue to be an elite scorer while skating in a top-six role with the Blue Jackets.

Hjalmarsson, who has played his whole career in Chicago, holds the franchise record for most playoff game appearances by a defenseman.

Plus, as TSN's Frank Seravalli notes, some of Chicago's veterans might have vouched for his return, letting it be known "how much they missed Saad". "Artemi Panarin was the best rookie in the National Hockey League two years ago, a second-team all-star this past season and is one of the most dynamic offensive players in the National Hockey League", said Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen in a statement. Saad won two previous Stanley Cups with the Hawks, and was traded away two years ago.

On the dashcam audio of Sunday's incident, officers can be heard greeting Lyles and asking questions about the burglary report. He promised a full and thorough investigation, citing "historic police reforms" that are "in place to address such crises".

Hjalmarsson finished with five goals and 13 assists in 73 games last season, while Panarin had 31 goals and 43 assists while playing in all 82 games.

The 30-year-old Hjalmarsson has a decade of National Hockey League experience to his name, all in Chicago. During those first four seasons, he totaled 52 goals and 74 assists in 208 games.

"This is a dynamic player who's got tremendous speed and quickness and that 1-on-1 ability to create odd-man situations, and with his skill just create time in space and scoring opportunities", Columbus general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said.

Hjalmarsson, 30, has two-years left on his contract and comes with a $4.1 million salary cap hit.

Murphy, 24, picked up two goals and 15 assists for 17 points and 45 penalty minutes in 77 games this past season. "It means a lot to me that Stan Bowman has put the trust in the trade, believing that I can help the team".
