"Cathy McMorris Rodgers posted her statement regarding President Trumps decision to leave the Paris climate accord on her Web page: "...

Environmental groups already have challenged some of the regulatory reforms pushed by the Trump administration and Congress using the Paris accord, the UNFCCC and other initiatives as the legal basis for these court challenges.

While acknowledging that Trump's ending of USA financing for developing countries affected by climate change was an important setback, he said France and other countries were looking at ways of compensating through multilateral development banks.

The G7 environment ministers issued a final communique today after their two-day meeting, the first since the United States announced it was withdrawing from the Paris climate pact. I think that we need worldwide co-operation in order to deal with climate change. We believe in the Paris Accord and we are going to stick to our commitments.

Pruitt attended only the first couple of hours of the environment meeting Sunday and held a few brief bilateral meetings, including with the EU's Climate Action and Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete, before flying home for a cabinet meeting at the White House. Yamamoto told Pruitt he wants to work with the USA within the Paris framework.

His absence was noticed by the other G7 members, which are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.

"G-7 countries have crucial roles and responsibilities to our own public opinion, to developing countries and to the planet", Italy's Environment Minister Gian Luca Galletti said at a two-day meeting of G-7 environmental chiefs in Italy.

WaPo: Trump Asked Coats to Intervene with Comey Too
This morning, the Senate intelligence committee held a kind of dress rehearsal for the Comey hearing tomorrow. Coats , who was preparing for his confirmation hearing, felt blindsided, officials said.

The United States' current relations with our allies in Europe will be damaged further due to this move.

The Associated Press notes Pruitt was told by his counterparts they were disappointed by President Donald Trump's controversial decision last month to withdraw from the landmark Paris climate accord.

The final version stated that the US will continue to engage with "key global partners" in a way consistent with its domestic priorities - a "strong" economy and a "healthy environment".

"In his call with the Chancellor, the Prime Minister emphasized the shared commitment to combatting climate change, strengthening environmental protections, and pursuing clean energy and sustainable development".

The statement is the latest indication of the growing gap between the US and other major world economies when it comes to the priority of confronting climate change.

Pruitt, a known climate-change skeptic, left after the morning session to meet with Trump. "Everything else for us is excluded", he said.

If the US follows through with its pledge to formally withdraw from the pact, which can not happen formally until November 4, 2020, the country would join just two others-Syria and Nicaragua-as non-parties to the agreement.
