SeaWorld says it may take several weeks to conduct a necropsy. SeaWorld had the opportunity to allow Takara to give birth in a seaside sanctuary but instead chose to make a buck off the birth.
The cause of death is considered to be a pneumonia-like infection, which is common in both whales and dolphins - either wild or the ones kept in captivity.
The three-month-old calf was born at the company's San Antonio, Texas, park, and was the last new orca, or killer whale, to be born into SeaWorld's controversial breeding program, CNN reported on Tuesday.
The backlash intensified after the 2013 release of "Blackfish", a documentary critical of SeaWorld's orca care. "From late nights to early morning, rain or shine, we dedicate our lives to these animals, and this loss will be felt throughout the entire SeaWorld family".

Andy banners deemed to be offensive will be confiscated as will any pyrotechnic devices. Celtic are also accused of "improper conduct of the team (five cards or more)".
Kyara had been under 24-hour watch and had been hand-fed to supplement her nutrition, the park said.
Kyara, a 3-month-old calf, was born at the San Antonio park in April and faced progressive health issues not caused by being in captivity, according to the park. She had been separated from her mother in order to receive veterinary care.
SeaWorld also has made a decision to phase out its world-famous killer whale performances by 2019, after public opinion turned against keeping orcas, dolphins and other animals in captivity for entertainment. The company made the announcement past year that its current collection of orcas will be the final generation at SeaWorld.
SeaWorld had come under fire for how killer whales have been treated at its three parks.
