Reports surfaced amid the already chaotic news night saying Trump's advisor Sebastian Gorka left the White House after submitting a harsh resignation letter to the president that was first obtained by The Federalist.
"Sebastian Gorka did not resign, but I can confirm he no longer works at the White House", a press statement released by a Trump representative said, indicating he was sacked. "The American people are entitled to know if a senior White House official is under criminal investigation", Senators Dick Durbin, Richard Blumenthal and Benjamin Cardin said in the letter. And disputes between the White House and Gorka over whether he resigned or was pushed out played out under the cover of 130 miles per hour winds gusting toward the Texas coast.
When asked about the White House's insistence that he had been pushed out, Gorka reportedly told One America News Network's Trey Yingst: "I can confirm I resigned".
But that all seemed to be tampered by Friday's news, with Gorka expressing disappointment in the direction of the Trump administration, lamenting specifically about renewed American efforts in Afghanistan. For its part, the White House says Gorka didn't resign but no longer works there.

Liberals and progressives have long decried Gorka's presence in the White House.
Mr. Gorka also said that in fighting terrorism, white supremacists should not be a concern. He had no government experience before entering the Trump administration.
A U.S. citizen who was born in the United Kingdom to Hungarian parents, Mr Gorka studied political science in Budapest and is the author of a best-selling book, Defeating Jihad: The Winnable War.
Gorka had also become deeply frustrated with the unprecedented levels of personal abuse propagated against him by the mainstream media -which included attacks against Gorka'a children - as well the numerous bureaucratic obstacles used to slow down his work on national security issues, including delaying Gorka's final permanent national security clearance. Under Trump, DHS's task force to counter violent extremism shifted to refocus specifically on Islamic terror groups while putting fewer resources towards combating far-right domestic terrorism, with the assistance of Katharine Gorka.
"Attacking patriotic transgender individuals serving in our military and pardoning Joe Arpaio on the same day as this resignation, however, makes it clear the problem is not Bannon or Gorka but the president himself".
