For the last several weeks, the Los Angeles Rams have had the cloud of star defensive tackle Aaron Donald holding out in favor of landing a new long-term deal. It seems all is forgiven though, because the Rams have waived all fines levied against Donald, and he will be paid for Week 1, despite not playing. Coach Sean McVay ruled him out for the opener Friday.
Donald did pass his physical, which PFT reported, but Donald is still at least one week, if not more from being in game shape.
Donald is widely regarded as one of the top defensive players in the league through his first three campaigns as he leads all defensive tackles with 28.0 sacks and 57.0 tackles for loss over that span.
It might be a bit of a transition for Donald, who missed a month of practice and is moving to defensive coordinator Wade Phillips' preferred 3-4 scheme. "But in the meantime we've got to get ready to play a football game and we know the Colts are getting ready as well".
'Perfect success' in testing hydrogen bomb
