Former chief White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter told Chris Matthews that the "the obstruction of justice and the lying" may be what brings down Donald Trump's presidency.
Additionally, the Mueller probe is seeking documents related to the White House's reaction to the revelation of the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting, where top Trump campaign aides and family members met with Russia-linked figures.
Sources also told the Washington Post that Mueller was looking at meetings between White House counsel Donald McGahn and then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, who was sacked in January for her refusal to defend Trump's travel ban targeting Muslim countries. It is not clear whether Mueller has made separate document requests elsewhere to examine those subjects. Asked about reports that Paul Manafort, then the Trump campaign manager, offered to brief a Russian billionaire, he demurred.
The allegation of criminality was lobbed at Trump after Comey said that he had been pressured to end the investigation into Flynn. But it's his job to make sure all documents related to these requests are being found and sent to Mueller's team. Mr Flynn wasn't forced out of the White House until about three weeks later, after it was revealed that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence about his communications with a Russian official, Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
USA officials said Flynn had told the vice president that he had only exchanged holiday greetings with Kislyak, when in fact the two men had discussed economic sanctions against Russian Federation.

Interior Ministry spokesperson Najib Danesh said two policemen and one civilian were killed and five people wounded. Bush, and its allies invaded Afghanistan on October 7, 2001 as part of Washington's so-called war on terror.
"I think the special counselor regulations, and Mueller's appointment, are constitutionally suspect", Fitton said.
Comey was sacked in May, while he was leading the Russian Federation investigation.
Trump's decision to ask for loyalty from Comey also turned out to be a rather poor one.
At the same time, the news demonstrates that Mueller considers the obstruction portion of the investigation to be significant and will not just limit his examination of the matter into the respective credibility of Comey and Trump. They are also interested in details of the conversation between then-deputy attorney general Sally Yates who raised concerns about Flynn with White House counsel Don McGahn in late January.
The previous night, Trump had tweeted that Comey "was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds!"
