After contesting alone in the cancelled April 12 bypoll, CPM has moved closer to the DMK with the unified AIADMK inclining towards the BJP and it would decide on its stand on the party's state committee to be held on November 30.
The party also asserted that it was not anxious about the "Two Leaves" going to the ruling AIADMK faction.
"We will win the bypoll with huge margin and prove that we are truly the successors of late Chief Minister and party leader J Jayalalithaa", former MP and spokesperson K C Palaniswamy told IANS.
"Our candidate is in the fray with the support of our allies. There is no fear or worry about Two Leaves".
The previously announced by-election in RK Nagar had been cancelled on April 10 after reports of widespread cash distribution. He also asked officials to cooperate with the administration to ensure that the polls are held in free and fair manner. The RK Nagar seat had been vacant following the demise of former CM J Jayalalithaa - who died at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai earlier past year.

It would be interesting to see how the opposition parties would face the December 21 bye-election, and whether the DMK would be able to bring together all opposition parties against the ruling AIADMK, which is toeing the lines of the BJP government at the Centre. Interestingly, the BJP which had fielded the film music composer Ilayaraja's brother Gangai Amaran announced that it would contest again.
Dinakaran had earlier said he would contest in the by-election whenever it is held.
Dinakaran, whose faction lost the symbol battle, has made a decision to contest again in R.K. Nagar.
Following charges of bribing voters, it was an Income Tax raid on April 7, five days before the scheduled bypoll at R K Nagar, that led to the cancellation of polls last time.
He, however, rejected the view that their faction should not be given "Hat" and asked were the rivals anxious that they would be defeated. Find us on Facebook too!
