They have arrested 59-year-old Rene Boucher in relation to the incident and charged him with one count of Assault 4th-minor injury.
In a statement, Paul spokeswoman Kelsey Cooper said the Republican senator is 'fine'.
The Kentucky State Police confirmed that the FBI were involved in the investigation, but the ongoing probe will be led by the trooper who made the arrest.

The Warren County property valuation administrator's website lists an address for a Rene Boucher on Rivergreen Lane, which is in the gated neighborhood just east of Bowling Green where Paul resides.
Sen. Rand Paul has spoken out about his assault at his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, saying he and his wife are grateful for the support they've received in the wake of the incident. The Daily Caller reports that Boucher appears to be a registered Democrat.
A second neighbor told local news station WNKY said that the Senator was mowing his lawn around 3 p.m. on Friday when Boucher assaulted him.
It is not known if Senator Paul knew his attacker.
It was not clear what motivated the altercation and Paul did not go to the hospital, police said.
