A group is circulating petitions to put raising Michigan's minimum wage to $12 an hour by 2022 on the November ballot.
Staten Islanders who work minimum-wage jobs will see a pay raise starting in the new year. Workers in New York City who are employed at businesses with at least 11 employees will now earn a minimum wage of $13/hour. It will reach $15 an hour on July 1, 2021.
There is also a misconception that those working minimum wage jobs are mostly young people, but that's not true.

An establishment is considered a fast food restaurant if it "offers limited service where customers order and pay before eating, including restaurants with tables but without full table service and places that only provide take-out service", according to the state Department of Labor.
