What is the United States president expected to do?
The President had previously condemned the action of some athletes who chose to kneel during the national anthem before NFL games.
Most of the players from Georgia and Alabama remained in their locker rooms during the anthem - though Alabama star running back Bo Scarbrough was caught on audio yelling "F-k Trump" in the tunnel at the Atlanta stadium before taking the field.

College football fans were glued to their televisions Monday night (Jan. 8) as the Alabama Crimson Tide faced off against the Georgia Bulldogs in this year's heated NCAA National Championship game. People who oppose President Trump were obviously quick to point out the error, but after a while, even his supporters began sadly noting that he looked out of sorts. He appears to mouth some of the words while occasionally pausing and missing some out.
Trump can be seen occasionally singing along, with gaps of either silence or humming as he proudly held his hand over his chest during the anthem. On Monday, he changed his Twitter banner to an image of him standing for the Anthem. My colleague Drew Magary believes that there is "zero chance" that Trump could recite the lyrics upon request, citing to this clip in which Trump spend the song's entire first half merrily tapping his the hand along with the beat before coming to life when he realizes that it's time to start shouting about rockets and bombs again. "Singing along wouldn't be easy for him", he tweeted.
Later, Trump took to Twitter praising Pence for leaving the game.
Trump has been very vocal about the importance of honoring the flag and standing during the playing of the anthem, even calling National Football League players who disrespect Old Glory "SOBs".
